The average MLS® residential price in BC reached $1.02 million in May 2023, reflecting a 3% rise compared to the same period last year.

Total Sales Dollar Volume:

The total sales dollar volume for May 2023 was $9.4 billion, indicating a notable 13.2% increase from the previous year.

Recovery and Positive Market Sentiment:

Despite the potential adverse effects of rising interest rates, BC’s housing market showcased resilience and exhibited a strong rebound. BCREA Chief Economist, Brendon Ogmundson, acknowledged the surprising strength of home sales in May and highlighted the market’s return to a normal pace well ahead of schedule.
