Join the South Surrey community this June for a heartfelt evening of remembrance at the annual Solstice Stroll in the Spirit Garden. This event honors loved ones lost and promises a serene and memorable experience.
A Garden of Transformation
The Spirit Garden, once an overgrown and vacant lot, transformed through the vision of local residents Joan and Jon Mara. Since 2009, this garden has evolved into a vibrant water and irrigation detention pond. Now, it is a cherished space in Surrey.
A Place for Reflection
Open year-round, the Spirit Garden welcomes daily visits from locals and visitors. One unique tradition involves planting flowers in memory of lost loved ones. Over the past 15 years, this practice inspired the creation of the Solstice Stroll event. This gathering has become a beloved annual tradition.
A Night to Remember
This year’s Solstice Stroll takes place on June 22, starting at 8 p.m. As twilight falls, the garden at 2860 140 St. will glow with hundreds of twinkling candles, each representing a cherished memory. Joan Mara invites everyone to walk through the garden and experience this special evening.
For those who wish to honor their loved ones, tealights will be available on-site. Participants can place their own candles in the garden.
