Get ready to kick off the New Year with a splash in South Surrey! Forget just one event – we’ve got two chilly swims happening at Crescent Beach, and one of them is unique! On January 1, 2024, at 1 p.m., the Polar Bear Plunge is inviting everyone to take a dip at ‘Crescent Rock Beach.’ This cool event, hosted by Surrey United Naturists, is special because you can wear whatever you’re comfortable with – even nothing at all! To join, head to the stairs at the western foot of 24 Avenue and meet up at the big ‘Crescent Rock’ boulder.
Another swim is happening at the end of Sullivan Street around the same time. It’s not an official thing, but about 100 locals usually show up for a spontaneous chilly dip.
If you’re feeling extra adventurous, you can try the “Triple Crown” of polar bear swims by going to events in White Rock, Surrey, and Vancouver – all in just 2.5 hours!
For the Polar Bear Plunge, get creative! They encourage fun costumes, body paint, and even Santa toques. And don’t forget your footwear – it might be chilly!
Whether you’re a pro at winter swims or just want to try something new, South Surrey’s Polar Bear Plunge promises a cool and memorable start to 2024. So, be brave, put on your coolest costume, and join the fun at ‘Crescent Rock Beach’ for an awesome splash into the New Year!
