In South Surrey’s vibrant Grandview Heights neighborhood, anticipation builds as Ta’talu Elementary School nears its completion. This new Elementary School will be located at the corner of 20 Avenue and 165A Street. Set to open in January 2025, the school stands tall, reflecting collaborative efforts between the school district, residents, and Semiahmoo First Nation.
Named Ta’talu (from the SENĆOŦEN language) after the Campbell River’s smaller extensions, the name honors the traditional land language, enriching community ties. With a capacity for 655 students across three stories, Ta’talu Elementary exemplifies cultural significance and educational excellence.
Residents will find The Loop, a pre-sale development offering modern living spaces close to the new school. Additionally, down the street, an Aquatic Center provides recreational opportunities for families.
Meanwhile, Snokomish Elementary in South Newton progresses after breaking ground earlier. Expansions at South Meridian and Semiahmoo Trail Elementaries respond to growing student populations. South Meridian will unveil eight new classrooms in September 2025, followed by Semiahmoo Trail’s expansion with ten classrooms in May of the same year.
As construction advances, South Surrey eagerly awaits Ta’talu Elementary School’s opening. This will mean a new era of community engagement and educational opportunity.
