White Rock Farmers’ Market: A $5M Boost to the Economy

Last year’s White Rock Farmers’ Market proved to be a significant contributor to the local economy, with a staggering boost of over $5 million, as revealed by a “groundbreaking” study conducted by the BC Association of Farmers’ Markets. This study, shared earlier this month, highlighted direct sales amounting to $3.55 million, along with a remarkable total of 81,600 shoppers throughout the season.

Province-wide Impact

The impact of farmers’ markets extends far beyond White Rock. Across the province, direct sales at B.C.’s markets contributed to an overall economic impact of $233 million. Despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and other socio-economic factors, the resilience and growth of farmers’ markets in British Columbia remain evident.

Impressive Statistics

Among the noteworthy statistics is the average expenditure per shopper, amounting to $43.37 per visit. Additionally, 51% of surveyed individuals revealed they visit the market either almost weekly or two to three times per month, underscoring the market’s popularity and significance within the community.

Looking Ahead: 2024 Season

Excitement mounts as the White Rock Farmers’ Market gears up for the 2024 season, set to commence on April 21 at Miramar Plaza (15154 Russell Ave.). Operating hours will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday until October 13. For more information and updates, visit the official website.

Community Spirit and Economic Vitality

As the White Rock Farmers’ Market prepares to welcome visitors once again, its role in fostering community engagement, supporting local businesses, and driving economic prosperity remains undeniable. With each purchase made and every interaction shared, the market contributes not only to the economy but also to the vibrant tapestry of life in White Rock.
