Neighbourhood guide · City of Chilliwack · Ryder Lake
Ryder Lake is an MLS® sub-area name in the City of Chilliwack. The City doesn’t publish a boundary for it, and I found no street-by-street boundary in official sources. The closest official descriptions are the City’s Greenspace Plan 2020, which lists Ryder Lake as numbered neighbourhood 47, and the City’s Mount Thom Park page, which places three of the park’s parking areas in Ryder Lake: Forester Road and Churchill Parkway, and Ross Road. The 2040 Official Community Plan treated Ryder Lake as an upland area held as a medium-to-long-term development reserve. See all Chilliwack neighbourhood guides.

Facts come from the official sources noted on this page. Rules and boundaries change, so confirm anything important with the City of Chilliwack and School District 33.

Schools
Chilliwack is in School District 33 (SD33). SD33’s Long Range Facilities Plan says its elementary schools are kindergarten to grade 5, its middle schools grades 6 to 8 and its secondary schools grades 9 to 12. Names, grades and addresses from the SD33 District Directory 2025-26 and the Province’s school list. Collected from official pages on October 13 and 14, 2026.

FAQ
The City doesn’t publish a boundary for Ryder Lake, and I found no street-by-street boundary in official sources. The City’s Mount Thom Park page places three of the park’s parking areas in Ryder Lake: Forester Road and Churchill Parkway, and Ross Road. Ask me if a specific address is in it.
No BC Transit route serves Ryder Lake. The closest listed service is route 54 Promontory, which ends in the Promontory neighbourhood. I did not find new or planned transit lines for Ryder Lake.
No public school is located in Ryder Lake. SD33’s Long Range Facilities Plan 2021 to 2025 profiles 36 district sites and none is in Ryder Lake. I did not confirm the catchment schools. Check an exact address with the SD33 School Locator.
Mount Thom Park, a 70-hectare wooded park with over 5 km of trails and three parking areas in Ryder Lake. There is no library branch in Ryder Lake. The nearest are Sardis Library (5819 Tyson Road) and Chilliwack Library (45860 First Avenue).
The 2050 Official Community Plan covers the whole city, including Ryder Lake. I did not find a separate Ryder Lake neighbourhood plan. The 2040 plan’s policy was to keep Ryder Lake as a medium to long term development reserve at its current rural estate density.
Ryder Lake is a designated hillside and upland area under Development Permit Area 2, so a DPA2 permit is required before subdivision, construction, land clearing or earthworks. I did not find a flood document specific to Ryder Lake. Ask me or the City about a specific lot.
The 2040 plan’s policy supports appropriate agricultural activities on ALR parcels in Ryder Lake. ALR status is set parcel by parcel, so check the exact address on the Agricultural Land Commission map. Lot size (MLS sales data, not an official source): the median lot size of detached houses sold between July 1 and October 8, 2026 was 950,107 sq ft (about 21.8 acres), based on 2 sales with a recorded lot size. That is only 2 sales. In my size bands, acreage is 1 to 10 acres and a farm is 10 acres or more. About 21.8 acres is in the farm band, but size alone doesn’t say whether a property is farmed or in the ALR.
