Sumas Prairie is some of Abbotsford's most productive agricultural land, on some of BC's most fertile soil. This flat land draws established farmers and buyers looking for large-scale berry, corn, vegetable or dairy farms.
The prairie has alluvial soil, drainage and irrigation infrastructure, and a mild climate, and it supports many kinds of farming. Properties range from bare agricultural land to fully operational farms with processing facilities, equipment, and established markets. It is a farming community close to processing facilities and transportation corridors. Despite the rural agricultural focus, Abbotsford's urban amenities including shopping and services remain accessible, and Highway 1 provides convenient market access.
